Upward Bound
Upward Bound’s educational and cultural activities help high school students explore career choices and develop the skills needed to be successful in college.
Upward Bound Services
- Visits to colleges to explore educational opportunities
- Cultural and recreation events
- Assistance with SAT or ACT preparation, completing college admission and financial aid applications
- Scholarship workshops
- Tutoring in reading, writing, math, science and foreign languages
- Individual and group advising
- Career and vocational exploration
- Summer Academy – a one week camp followed by five weeks of academic study
- Stipends for those who actively participate in the program
Who is Eligible?
- Currently enrolled in 9th, 10th or 11th grade
- Attend one of the following high schools:
- Cascade
- Gervais
- McKay
- North Marion
- North Salem
- Santiam
- Stayton
- Woodburn
- First-generation college-bound student (neither parent has a bachelors degree)
- Students who meet federal low-income requirements
- Plan to go to college and have academic potential
- Be willing to participate in all aspects of the Upward Bound Program
Upward Bound Schedule
Academic Support
- After school tutoring is held at each school each week
- Supplemental STEM tutoring on Wednesdays from 5:30-7:30 pm via Zoom
- UB Advisors meet with students each week at each school

- Apr. 20: ACT Celebration

- May 23: Oregon State University
- June 24-Aug. 2: Summer Academy
