If you're over 65, a disabled veteran or a dependent of a fallen or disabled service member, you may receive a waiver.
Chemeketa Tuition Waiver Information
The cost of tuition may be offset if you qualify for a waiver. Chemeketa offers several different waivers you may be eligible to apply for.

What This Waiver Covers
- The course must be a lower-division collegiate credit course (100 or 200 level course- e.g. ART 101, SPN 111, WR 227, etc. click here for a list of course eligibility)
- Course prerequisites must be satisfied prior to enrollment
- If you do not meet the prerequisite requirement at Chemeketa and wish to enroll in the course you must receive an additional electronic override from the instructor or an advisor
- An approved tuition waiver will cover the cost of 8 credits each term
- You must still pay course fees
Requirements
- Be an Oregon resident
- Be 65 or older at the beginning of the term the course is offered
- Space must be available in the course as determined by the instructor and the department
Apply
- Apply online for admission to the college
- Follow the Guest Student Instructions found on our Admission Process page to avoid holds
- Complete a 65+ Tuition Waiver and Audit Request form with both instructor and department signature
- The tuition waiver benefit will not apply unless registration is processed through this form
- For online courses, instructor consent will be accepted if emailed to the student using a valid Chemeketa email address and then printed and included with the form
- Submit your completed form between Monday of week 2 and Friday of week 4 of the term to –

OR any other Chemeketa campus or center front office - Photo ID may be requested at the time the completed forms are accepted
- Pay course fees when you submit the 65+ Tuition Waiver and Audit Request Form
- Enrollment Services will process the waiver and audit request
- Business Services will apply the tuition waiver to your account

Disabled Veterans Waiver
What This Waiver Covers
- This waiver will cover up to two years of full-time attendance or an associate’s degree, whichever comes first
- It will not cover book, fees or other expenses
Requirements
- Be an Oregon resident
- Be 100% disabled as a result of military service
Apply
- Download and complete the tuition waiver application
- Include adequate documentation with your application, including –
- Proof of the Veteran's military service (DD Form 214)
- Documentation of the Veteran's service-connected disability rating as determined by the U.S. Department of Veterans' Affairs
- You only need to submit a waiver for your first term
- The college will track registration and waive tuition during subsequent terms
- Since your financial aid award may be reduced by the use of this waiver, submit your completed waiver and documentation at least a week before to each term's start date to –

Dependents of Fallen or Disabled Service Personnel
What This Waiver Covers
- This waiver will cover up to two years of full-time attendance or an associate’s degree, whichever comes first
- It will not cover book, fees or other expenses
- Once eligibility has been established, the college will apply the waiver either on a first dollar or last dollar basis –
- If the military member died while on active duty or as a result of a 100% service-connected disability as certified by the U.S. Department of Veterans' Affairs. Eligible students will receive a first dollar tuition waiver as long as they do not receive the Marine Gunnery Sergeant John D. Fry Scholarship
- All other eligible students shall be granted a waiver as "last dollar" after other financial assistance, including GI Bill® benefits and other grant resources
Requirements
- Be an Oregon resident
- Be the spouse or age 23 and under child (including adoptive or step-children) of members of all U.S. Armed Forces branches and Coast Guard who –
- Died while on active duty
- Died as a result of a 100% service-connected disability
- Is rated as 100% disabled by the U.S Department of Veterans' Affairs
- Died as a result of a service-connected disability certified as less than 100%
- Spouses must request the waiver within ten years of a formal determination of a 100% service-connected disability or death of the service member
- Children must initiate the waiver request prior to age 23
Apply
- Download and complete the tuition waiver application
- Include adequate documentation with your application, including –
- Veteran’s cost of attendance (if applicable)
- Proof of the Veteran's military service (DD Form 214)
- Proof of the applicant's dependent status (DD Form 93, marriage or birth certificate)
- Documentation of the Veteran's service-connected disability rating as determined by the U.S. Department of Veterans' Affairs.
- You only need to submit a waiver for your first term
- The college will track registration and waive tuition during subsequent term
- Since your financial aid award may be reduced by the use of this waiver, submit your completed waiver and documentation at least a week before to each term's start date to –
