Learning to Set the Bar High

I would not be where I am today with the experience I had at Chemeketa.

When I started here four years ago, I came as a first generation, non-traditional student with no expectations. It was never the plan to get an education beyond high school, and I was not sure what I wanted to accomplish.

Within my first year, I had direction and never looked back. That direction came from the Mock Trial program. Mock Trial provided me with the necessary skills for success in academics and beyond. I have participated in over 50 trials, traveled to several cities and made lasting connections with peers and professionals.

Without the support of Chemeketa and the opportunity for Mock Trial, I may have never discovered my purpose. I never knew I’d get involved in a program as challenging as Mock Trial and would go on to pursue a chance at law school; however, at Chemeketa I learned to set my expectations high because I can do more than I ever imagined.

I am graduating from Chemeketa and starting a new journey at Willamette Law School. I want to share my experience with others so that they can know Chemeketa has more to offer than just an education, that they too can find their purpose at Chemeketa.
