Emeritus Association

Retired Chemeketa employees can remain connected to the college and help support students by joining the Chemeketa Emeritus Association.

The Emeritus Association’s mission is to help retirees continue to be a part of the Chemeketa community. The association provides ways for former employees to stay connected through participation in social and cultural activities and classes and by providing opportunities to support the work of the college.

Join now by using the electronic form or download the brochure and membership form.

Emeritus Association eligibility

You are invited to join if you have retired from Chemeketa under PERS with at least five years of employment at the college. To remain an active member, you simply pay modest dues each year. Dues are complimentary for your first year of membership.

Who runs the Emeritus Association?

The members do! They decide what they want the organization to be and how much they want to be involved. Members elect a board of directors to oversee the group’s activities, and the college provides a liaison from the President’s Office to help maintain the relationship with the college and to provide logistical support.

What are the benefits to the college and its students?

Your Emeritus membership provides $25 of each $30 fee paid toward the Emeritus Scholarship and is tax deductible. Members may also make additional tax-deductible contributions to the scholarship fund via the Chemeketa Foundation.

Emeritus Association member benefits

As an Emeritus member, you receive invitations to social events and other activities. You also enjoy the benefits of a Chemeketa ID card and a generous tuition waiver annually.

  • Member Gatherings

The Emeritus Association holds two member gatherings annually. The gatherings are free to members and include a presentation and social function. Spouses and significant others are welcome and are asked to pay a nominal fee. The gatherings are an enjoyable way to learn something new and to catch up with your fellow retirees.

  • Parking Permit

Emeritus members are eligible for a college parking permit. Please include your vehicle information with your dues.

  • Chemeketa ID Card

The Emeritus ID card allows Chemeketa retirees to utilize the Library and enter athletic events for free. ID cards are available through the liaison in the President's Office, Building 2, Room 216.

  • Tuition Waver

The waiver allows Emeritus members and their spouse/partner to share up to eight free credits per term. Fees must still be paid. Waivers do not apply to community education, non-credit and self-support classes. The college will need K-numbers for both the Emeritus member and their spouse/partner. Waivers may be used for most credit classes.

    How to Register for Classes

Once you have become an Emeritus Association member and want to enroll:

    • Log on to My Chemeketa with you username and password.
    • Register for classes: Select “Registration”, select “Class search” OR “Add/drop classes”, choose your class. Once registered for a class, wait 24-48 hours for the tuition waiver process to remove tuition from your student record.
